I get many questions about my approach to embroidery. Over the years my work has developed more because of experimentation (and perhaps frustration) rather than a set technique. Sometimes I embroider blind and backwards to trick myself into embracing the messy knots and threads that naturally occur. Other times, I rely on my tidy stitches to sneak slowly along my lines. For some, expression is a quick thing that flows over you like a flick of the wrist and brush on canvas. For me, it is quiet, intimate and of course a test of patience. It is this balance that I hope to capture not only in my process but in my subject as it is also uniquely personal to how I view myself.
